Game On, Tallahassee! Fall Sports Registration Now Open

Whether you're swinging for a home run, racing to the end zone or just looking to make new friends while staying active, the City of Tallahassee has a fall sport for you! With leagues for both youth and adults, there are plenty of ways for people of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the City's parks in the coming months. Fall sports registration is now open at Talgov.com/Parks.

Youth Baseball
The City offers recreation league baseball for players ages 11-19, and the teams are divided into three age groups. Registration is currently open, and the deadline to register is Wednesday, Aug. 13. The youth baseball season will run from Sept. 8 through Oct. 31. For information about league divisions, field locations, fees and equipment or to register a child, visit Talgov.com/Parks.

Advanced play baseball is also offered for players ages 7-10 at Levy Park. Tryouts are required to participate in competitive baseball leagues. Registration is currently open, and the deadline to register is Friday, Aug. 8. The advanced play baseball season will run from Sept. 8 through Oct. 31. Youth Cheerleading
Cheerleading is offered for youth ages 4-13, and the teams are divided into two age groups. Registration is currently open, and the deadline to register is Wednesday, Aug. 13. Practices will begin on Aug. 23, and the season will run from Sept. 20 through Nov. 8, aligning with youth football league schedules. Youth Football
Tackle football is offered for players ages 8-13, and flag football is offered for players ages 4-17. Registration is currently open, and the deadline to register is Wednesday, Aug. 13. Tackle football practices will begin Sept. 2, and the season will run from Sept. 30 through Nov. 6. Flag football practices will begin Aug. 23, and the season will run from Sept. 20 through Nov. 8. Youth Softball
Youth fast pitch softball is offered at Tom Brown Park for girls ages 8-18, and the teams are divided into four age groups. Tryouts are required to participate in competitive softball leagues. Registration is currently open, and the deadline to register is Thursday, Aug. 14. For information about tryouts, season dates, league divisions, fees and equipment or to register a child, visit Talgov.com/Parks.

Youth Volleyball
Youth volleyball is offered for girls ages 6-17, with teams divided into four age groups. Registration is currently open, and the deadline to register is Wednesday, Aug. 13. The Lil Aces instructional league, ages 6-7, will meet on Wednesday evenings from Sept. 10 through Oct. 15. Practices for the older leagues will begin Aug. 25, and the season will run from Sept. 15 through Oct. 31. Adult Beach Volleyball
Beach volleyball is available for adults 18 years of age or older. Both recreational and competitive 4v4 leagues are offered. 4v4 leagues play each Monday night at Tom Brown Park for eight weeks. King of the Beach and Queen of the Beach 2v2 leagues are also available. 2v2 leagues play six sets each Tuesday night at Tom Brown Park for eight weeks.

Games will begin on Sept. 15 and run through Nov. 4. 4v4 league registration is by team, and 2v2 league registration is individual. Registration begins Thursday, Aug. 1, and the deadline to register is Tuesday, Sept. 9. For more information and to register for the fall adult beach volleyball league, visit Talgov.com/Parks.

Adult Flag Football
Flag football is available for adults 18 years of age or older, and three levels of competition are offered for players of all ability levels. Games are played on weeknights at the James Messer Sports Complex for 10 weeks.

The season will begin on Sept. 1 and run through Nov. 3. Registration is by team and is currently open through Wednesday, Aug. 20. For more information and to register for the fall adult flag football league, visit Talgov.com/Parks.

Adult Softball
Softball is available for adults 18 years of age or older, with coed, men, men's church, senior and women's leagues available. Teams will play one game per week on weeknights at Tom Brown Park from Aug. 25 through Nov. 8. Registration is by team and is currently open through Wednesday, Aug. 13. If you are interested in participating in adult beach volleyball, flag football or softball leagues but do not have a team, contact the program supervisor, Lucas Williams, at 850-891-3825.

Volunteer Coaching Opportunities
Volunteer coaches are greatly needed for youth sports. If a parent volunteers to coach, the registration fee for their child on the team will be waived. By coaching youth sports, volunteers are positively contributing to a child's mental and physical wellbeing, building their confidence and teaching the valuable skills of the sport, teamwork and communication. Those interested in volunteering as a youth coach should contact the City's Athletics Division staff at 850-891-3866.

Part-time Jobs
Umpires, referees and concession workers are needed year-round for both youth and adult sports. These are part-time, paid positions through the City of Tallahassee. Motivated and energetic individuals should apply at Talgov.com/Jobs.
